- SATEC Arabia will be responsible for the governance, support and operation of IT and cybersecurity services for IMI, the largest shipyard in the MENA region.
- More than 50% of the 60 experts involved in the team will be Saudi nationals.
January 17, 2023 – International Maritime Industries (IMI), the largest shipyard in the MENA region, with Saudi Aramco as its main partner, has chosen SATEC Arabia as a provider to manage, operate and maintain its business applications, infrastructure and security. The contract covers the end-to-end governance of all IT and Cybersecurity services, both IT and OT, for the next three years, extendable for an additional two years. It also includes the supply and implementation of the necessary tools for the management and operation of the service.
SATEC Arabia has proposed a three-stage approach: a first transition stage with the diagnosis of IMI operations at the service level, during which the Target Operating Model (TOM) for governance, technology and operations areas will also be developed. The subsequent migration stage will involve transitioning IMI operations from its current state to the target state, adjusting tools and technologies, and stabilizing operations. Finally, the standard operation stage will entail implementing the proposed technologies, tools and operational capabilities, with key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure efficiency and continuous improvement.
As a part of the contract, SATEC Arabia will implement a strategy of progressive incorporation of expert profiles, targetting the creation of 60 new local jobs of highly qualified professionals by the expiration of the contract. This strategy is also aligned with the objective of having a minimum percentage of 50% Saudi personnel, thus strengthening SATEC Arabia’s commitment to local talent development and job creation within the region.
According to Luis Rodríguez Ovejero, President of SATEC Group, “this contract is an important step forward reinforcing our presence in Saudi Arabia and a further step in the group’s strategic internationalization and diversification into new markets. Our client’s trust, built up through previous successful projects, has made this achievment possible as well as our extensive experience in providing similar services for clients in Spain. We are excited about this opportunity and are committed to achieving our objectives in providing quality solutions that meet the expectations and requirements of clients in this new and growing market“.
SATEC Group, together with a reputable local partner, founded SATEC Arabia in 2019. A year later, in the midst of the pandemic, the company began the implementation of the first project in the region, also for IMI, with the goal of implementing comprehensive cybersecurity governance framework for the shipyard’s IT systems.
